Racquetball & Squash
| Franklin Squash League |
| Squash leagues are also available to Members. During the winter season, league play consists of travel teams for 5.0, 4.5, 4.0, 3.5 & 3.0 level players, through the Michigan Squash Racquets Association. Once the travel league season is concluded, Franklin has Spring and Summer singles leagues, which are played here at the club and are only open to Members. Leagues run for 8-10 weeks. Contact Greg Lewerenz, our Racquetball and Squash Program Director, for pricing and availability. Participants receive a roster and schedule, a new ball for every match and trophies for first and second place. Leagues are usually played from 6:30-8:00 p.m. |
The Racquetball/Squash Department is under the direction of Greg Lewerenz . There are many exciting activities for members to choose from. League play for racquetball and squash, as well as lessons, are available. Greg Lewerenz, our Racquetball and Squash Director is available for lessons for all ages and ability levels. Rob Graves, a National and State Squash Champion, is available for squash lessons for all ages and ability levels.
Tournaments:
Franklin hosts the club Championship Tournament in Racquetball (singles and doubles) and in squash (singles and doubles) annually. Winners of each division are posted on plaques displayed in the club. Trophies are awarded for first and second place in each division.
For Kids:
There has been a renewed interest in having kids participate in racquetball and squash classes. Greg Lewerenz, Our Program Director and Professional, will organize activities in racquetball and or squash for kids throughout the school year. Children, ages 8 and up, are eligible to participate. Greg will meet with interested participants after school or during the summer.
Clinics:
Franklin has offered and will continue to offer racquetball and squash clinics for our players. Greg Lewerenz, our Racquetball and Squash Professional, is available for clinics. Rob Graves, Squash Professional, is also available for Squash clinics
Challenge Courts:
Franklin hosts informal challenge courts. Typically, Tuesday and Friday mornings from 9:30-11:00 a.m. is an informal challenge court for racquetball players. Squash singles players who play challenge court informally usually do so on Tuesday and Thursday mornings at about 6:30 a.m. Occasionally, we will host a formal event, such as a league banquet/challenge court night or a small series of challenge courts for our Members. Challenge courts are free to Franklin Members.
Racquetball & Squash Court Reservations
- Racquetball courts are reserved on the half-hour for one-hour periods. (i.e. 3:30, 7:30, 11:30)
- Squash court reservations are made on 45-minute intervals. (i.e. 3:45, 4:15, 5:00)
- For all court reservations, only one reservation per person during prime hours. Prime time hours are located at the reservation desk, or just ask the desk attendant over the phone.
Court Check In:
All Members must check in before court time. Failure to do so may result in court reassignment or removal from the court. If players are not present on a reserved court 15 minutes after the reserved time, the court will be considered open.
